Professional Development Plan

My professional development plan currently involves me obtaining my Master’s degree in Nursing/ Family Nurse Practitioner Track from the University of Central Florida. However, I have been greatly considering continuing my education to reach my ultimate goal of completing the DNP program. When I do complete my goal of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, I plan on placing a greater focus on health promotion and prevention to all populations that I will serve, providing high quality, yet cost effective healthcare. I will always remain committed to excellence no matter what position I maintain.

With my nursing background consisting of neonatal intensive care, I do plan on utilizing my unique and invaluable skills to provide primary care to women and children; I may even decide to become a Certified Nurse Midwife at some point of my profession, as my true passion is providing excellent care to promote health to babies. My five year plan at this point includes:

·         Providing the highest quality of care to all patients, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention.

·         Always share compassion with all individuals I serve, being sure to provide special care to the uninsured and underserved populations.

·         Compose publications on topics that I am knowledgeable and passionate about. Writing for journals, utilizing evidence-based knowledge to be used in advanced nursing practice.

·         Participate in research and projects that I will be able to not only share all of my advanced clinical knowledge and expertise but to also grow and gain professionally from.

·         Actively participate in professional organizations, continuing my commitment to lifelong learning meeting all education requirements for my advanced nursing licensure with topics related to personal practice

·         Become politically involved; continuing to remain aware of specific legislation that impacts the advanced nurse practitioner practice and to become politically active by showing support to professional nursing organizations that support advanced practice nurses.
